About our Mast Profiles and Carriage Bars
Hoesch Schwerter Profiles GmbH is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of special steel
profiles for the lift truck industry. These special steel profiles are developed to meet the
most demanding operational requirements.
They are manufactured, meeting all relevant ISO & DIN certification standards and
using state-of-the-art hot rolled/hot extruded/cold drawn technology.
Hoesch Schwerter special steel profiles deliver significant quality,
manufacturing and cost-saving benefits including:
• The elimination of costly post-manufacturing treatment (straightening, milling, turning and grinding).
• Reduction in down-stream machining costs.
• Custom profiles available for multi-function roles.
SE-|M|® – precision from the intelligent
combination of proven production processes
Hoesch Schwerter Profile GmbH has been working on a
process that would enable lift mast profiles to be manufactured with a greater wear resistance in addition to them being designed for greater heights since 2003. The “specially engineered milled process“, or SE-|M|® was patented in 2008. The result of these years of work: The combination of the classic hot rolling process with a suitable material and an efficient mechanical processing makes it possible to meet the high demands.
SE-|M|® offers numerous benefits that take our customers higher and further:
• The lowest possible tolerances (0.2 mm) in the main functional surface of the
• Improved wear resistance through the material
• Selection and removal of the surface decarburisation
• Reduced costs when compared with cold-drawn profiles for example, due to a high degree of automation
A surface as hard as steel
Surface decarburization occurs in basically all hot production processes. Carbon which is, in the main, responsible for the steel hardness reacts with atmospheric oxygen thereby converting the carbon close to the surface into carbon dioxide (CO2). The consequence of this is that the rated hardness values of the surface are in many cases not reached. In terms of the materials handling industry application, this means that the softer surface layer of the profile wears a little each time the bearing rolls. Practically no wear is determinable when using the special grade profiles, manufactured by Hoesch Schwerter Profile GmbH using the SE-|M|® process. Our customers have informed us that their masts have not worn since the introduction of SE-|M|® profiles.
Replacement of the roller bearings due to wear is no longer an issue when using Hoesch SE-|M|® profiles.
